Almost a year after Typhoon Odette hit the country, the GMA Kapuso Foundation held a tree-planting activity in Siargao as it continues to support the recovery of the island.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Friday, 100 seedlings of fruit-bearing, Acacia, and Narra trees were planted in Barangay Baybay in Burgos.

Many trees were uprooted in Siargao when Odette struck the province in December last year.

"Sobrang mainit kasi wala nang masisilungan, tsaka ano po talaga parang pangit tingnan pag wala talagang mga puno," said Aivy Tulisana, a resident.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation also taught residents how to properly plant trees under the Kapuso ng Kalikasan Project.

Among those who participated in the tree-planting activity was 11-year-old Princess Mamoro.

"Paglalaki po pag masyadong mainit puwede po naming 'yung silungan at pag namumunga puwede na po naming pitasin," she said.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
