Raps filed vs. truck driver involved in Cavite State University accident


Charges have been filed against the driver of the Elf truck that was involved in an accident at the Cavite State University which led to one dead and four injured.

The driver identified as Federico Baculan is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple physical injuries, according to a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday.

According to Cavite State University president Dr. Hernando Robles, the truck was registered in the name of the university.

He also said Baculan has been an employee of the university for 15 years.

Robles gave the assurance that the university is ready to help the victims and their families.

Meanwhile, the university suspended all activities of the students until Friday this week.

A student was killed and four others were injured after the Elf truck crashed into a portion of the university in Indang, Cavite, police said Monday.

Indang Police chief Police Major Edward Cantano said the students were reading books when the vehicle plowed their area in the main campus.

The driver, who was out of the vehicle at the time of the accident, said they were delivering water to the school and he forgot to put a wedge on the truck's wheels.

The lone fatality, a first year student, was declared dead on the spot. The four injured students were given medical attention. —KG, GMA Integrated News
