5.5-magnitude earthquake shakes Guiuan, Eastern Samar

A 5.5-magnitude hit northwest of Homonhon Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake that occurred at 4:25 a.m. at a depth of 80 kilometers was tectonic in origin.
The quake was also felt in the following areas:
- Intensity IV - Guiuan, Lawaan, Mercedes, and Salcedo, Eastern Samar; Abuyog, Alangalang, City of Baybay, Dulag, Javier, La Paz, Palo, Santa Fe, Tabontabon, Tanauan, and Tolosa, Leyte; San Francisco, Southern Leyte
- Intensity III - General MacArthur, Eastern Samar; Babatngon, Barugo, Leyte, Pastrana, and Tunga, Leyte; City of Tacloban
- Intensity II - Maydolong, Eastern Samar; Albuera, Leyte; Ormoc City
- Intensity I - City of Cebu
There are no damages expected but aftershocks may occur, the agency added. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
