Landslides hit Ormoc, Butuan

Floods and landslides were reported in several areas in Ormoc and Butuan City, following the continuous rains in the Visayas and Mindanao brought by a low-pressure area.

There were two days of landslides reported along the side of the Panalian River, where clearing operations are ongoing on affected roads, Dano Tingcungco reported Sunday on “24 Oras Weekend.”

Landslides were also reported in Barangay De Oro in Butuan City, that left debris on some of the roads.

Clearing operations were also carried out in nearby areas, where floods forced a number of individuals to evacuate to safer ground.

State weather bureau PAGASA attributed the rains to the low-pressure area east of Tacloban, Leyte. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
