Remains of 4 on board ill-fated Cessna plane in Albay retrieved


The remains of four people inside the Cessna plane that crashed near Mayon Volcano’s crater a week ago have been retrieved.
 
Camalig, Albay Mayor Carlos Baldo said the retrieval team was expected to bring the bodies to the command center at midnight, according to a report on GMA News Live on Saturday.
 
The remains will be turned over to the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).
 
Baldo said the retrieval team had a hard time recovering the bodies of the victims.
 
On February 18, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Bicol International Airport air traffic controllers lost contact with the Cessna 340 plane carrying four people: the pilot, a crew member, and two passengers.
 
CAAP said the plane departed Bicol International Airport at 6:43 a.m.
 
Air traffic controllers last contacted the aircraft at 6:46 a.m., when the plane was approaching the Camalig Bypass Road at an altitude of 2,600 feet.
 
The plane was expected to arrive in Manila at 7:53 a.m.
 
Meanwhile, an additional four K-9 dogs and more than 100 ground searchers were deployed to speed up the search and rescue for the missing Cessna aircraft in Isabela.

On January 24, a Cessna 206 took off from Cauayan Airport in Isabela, heading for Maconacon town. On board the light aircraft were its pilot and five passengers.
 
On Thursday, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said search operations had resumed due to improved weather. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
