P1.1 million offered for info leading to arrest in killing of student in Cavite dorm
P1.1 million is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the killing of a student at her dormitory in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
The reward is being offered by Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla and Senator Bong Revilla, according to Jun Veneracion's "24 Oras" report on Thursday.
Computer science student Queen Leanne Daguinsin, 24, was found dead inside her room at the dormitory building in Barangay Santa Fe at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the police, Daguinsin suffered 14 stab wounds in different parts of her body, and that there was no indication of rape.
CCTV footage showed a man in a blue shirt, a black cap, and a face mask leaving her room. He was holding unidentified objects in his hands.
(My sister was very kind, very patient, and very loving. I am knocking on your hearts that if anyone saw, heard, or witnessed the incident, let's trust the police.)
Some students living in the dormitory expressed concern for their safety.
(Imagine that the place where you thought your child was safe, someone suddenly dies in that place where you thought they were the safest.)
In Manila, police inspected several dormitories for safety. Based on the official record of the Manila Police District (MPD), there are 20 dormitories in the university belt area.
Authorities said affordable dormitories have no security guards and CCTV cameras.
(This is also one of the priorities of the PCP commanders when monitoring their AOR, to maintain order here.)
Police also conducted inspections in some houses in the university belt area which have been rented as dormitories. They found out that some were not strict in security.
“Dapat che-check-in n'yo 'yung hallway niyo kung merong naiwang susi para ire-remind niyo may naiwan kang susi dito kasi madaling i-duplicate,” Police Chief Master Sergeant Laurencio Bernardo of MPD station 14 said.
(You should check your hallway if there is a key left in the door, because keys are easy to duplicate.) — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA Integrated News
