No parties, loud music allowed in Boracay on Good Friday —LGU

The local government unit in Malay, Aklan reminded the public that partying and playing loud music on Good Friday in Boracay is prohibited.

"No parties and activities with loud music must be permitted from 6:00AM of Good Friday (April 7, 2023) until 6:00AM of Black Saturday (April 8, 2023)," Malay Vice Mayor Niño Carlos Cawaling wrote in a memorandum order addressed to the Business Permits and Licensing Office.

In his memorandum order, Cawaling directed the said office not to issue special permits for the conduct of parties in Boracay on Good Friday, according to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

The move is pursuant to a Sangguniang Bayan resolution issued in 2009 prohibiting such activities on Good Friday.

Parties however are allowed until Maundy Thursday, and may resume on Black Saturday.

It will be a long weekend for many Filipinos this Holy Week until Monday, April 10.

Maundy Thursday (April 6) and Good Friday (April 7) are regular holidays while Black Saturday (April 8) is a special nonworking day.

Monday, April 10, on the other hand is a nonworking day in lieu of April 9 in observance of Araw ng Kagitingan. —KG, GMA Integrated News
