(I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone. Representatives from 10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will go to Nunungan. I would like to invite the President, Vice President, senators, and national agencies to go to Nunungan on June 28.)

In 2003, ASEAN member countries signed the ASEAN Declaration on Heritage Parks, agreeing that “common cooperation is necessary to conserve and manage ASEAN Heritage Parks for the development and implementation of regional conservation and management action plans as well as regional mechanisms complementary to and supportive of national efforts to implement conservation measures.”

The Philippines already has several ASEAN Heritage Park sites, including the Mt. Apo Natural Park, the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve, the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, and the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Natural Park. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
