Aklan under state of calamity due to ASF


The province of Aklan was placed under a state of calamity due to cases of  African Swine Fever (ASF), according to the “24 Oras Weekend” report on Saturday.

The Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the resolution that placed the province under a state of calamity on Friday.

According to the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, at least seven towns reported cases of ASF, while more than 40 pigs were culled.

The areas with reported ASF also conducted disinfection.

The affected hog raisers will receive financial assistance of P2,000 to P3,000.

Authorities continued to monitor and implement border checkpoints to prevent the entry of hogs and pork products into the province. — Richa Noriega/DVM, GMA Integrated News
