Over 1,200 vegetable farmers in Benguet receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Over 1,200 vegetables farmers affected by Bagyong Betty in La Trinidad, Benguet received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Monday, heavy rains from the typhoon destroyed crops and affected the farmers' livelihoods.

Under the Operation Bayanihan project, the Kapuso foundation distributed food packs to help the farmers get back on their feet.

Among the beneficiaries is Catrien Carpio, 61, who is also a beekeeper.

"Ang mga farmer talaga kapag nadurog na, nasira na 'yung gulay pati ulam wala na rin," she said.

Her bees were also affected due to the rains.

"Wala silang ma-forage eh, talagang mamatay sila mag-i-istarve sila," she said. "Kapag mahaba 'yung ulan mahaba rin ang pagpapakain namin ng sugar syrup."

For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
