Missing Cessna plane located in Apayao - Cagayan PIO

The missing Cessna 152 plane was found on Wednesday and there were no survivors, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office said.

The small plane crashed along the border of Barangay Salvacion, Luna, and Barangay San Mariano, Pudtol in Apayao, according to information provided by Apayao Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Jeoffrey Borromeo, the provincial information office said.

“Natagpuan rin ang dalawang sakay nito ngunit kapwa wala nang buhay,” it said.

(The two passengers on the aircraft were also found dead.)

No further details have been released as of this posting.

The Apayao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office later said that only the location of the missing Cessna had been confirmed.

“We would like to clarify that the only confirmed information is the possible crash site of the missing Cessna 152. All other information are subject for verification,” the Apayao PDRRMO said in a social media post.

“A search and rescue team has already been dispatched to look for the exact location of the crash site. The aerial reconnaissance conducted earlier has been aborted due to inclement weather,” it added.

The plane was bound for Tuguegarao City on Tuesday but didn't reach the airport as scheduled.

According to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the light aircraft was last monitored 32 nautical miles from Alcala, Cagayan.

The Office of Civil Defense in Region 2 said two planes bound for the Tuguegarao airport took off from the Laoag City airport at 12:16 p.m.

Only one of them arrived at 1:11 p.m.

Authorities lost contact with the pilot and, until Tuesday night, could not be reached by cellphone or radio.  —Sherylin Untalan/VBL/NB, GMA Integrated News
