Grenade blast rocks ex-Comelec chair Sheriff Abas’ home in Cotabato

A grenade explosion rocked the home of former Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairperson Sheriff Abas in Cotabato City.

No one was hurt in the incident but shrapnels hit a vehicle parked in the area, according to Bam Alegre's report on GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita on Thursday.

Abas was not home when the blast occurred.

The family of Abas is clueless about the possible motive and the identity of the person who threw the grenade inside their home.

Authorities have already obtained the CCTV footage which captured the front of the house to help in the investigation.

The Cotabato City government and the brother of the ex-Comelec official, Bangsamoro deputy minister of health Zul Qarneyn Abas, offered P300,000 each for information that could lead to the arrest of perpetrators. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
