4 miners dead in Quezon landslide

Four miners were confirmed dead in General Nakar, Quezon due to a landslide triggered by the recent rains, Carlo Mateo reported Wednesday on dzBB’s Super Radyo.

An initial investigation showed the incident in Sitio Angelo in Barangay Umiray occurred early Wednesday at past 4 a.m.

The Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said the continuous rains may have caused the landslide.

The victims’ remains were recovered through a search and rescue operation. They were transferred to Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.

The PDRRMO has yet to identify the victims.

Meanwhile, small-scale mining for gold deposits is prevalent in the village, the report added.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
