The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a medical evacuation of a 45-year-old Filipino crewman from a Japanese merchant ship off Guiuan, Eastern Samar on Wednesday.

In its report on Thursday, the PCG said patrol ship BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) successfully evacuated a crewman from the M/V Yodohime, a Japanese-flagged bulk carrier along the coast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar on December 20.

Yodohime’s captain radioed to the coast guard that Filipino crewman Esperidion Real became incomprehensible and the right side of his body became paralyzed.

Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas directed the Capones to rendezvous with the Japanese ship off Guiuan where a team safely transferred the Pinoy sailor to the coast guard vessel.

The Capones arrived at Tacloban Port on Dec.21 where Real was  brought to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center for medical attention.—RF, GMA Integrated News
