Other cities across Philippines prepare for Traslacion

The largest and most well-known gathering for the Feast of the Black Nazarene will take place in Manila, but other parts of the country are also holding their own major processions, or Traslacion, on Tuesday.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao's Cyril Chaves on 24 Oras on Monday, devotees lined up at the Shrine of the Black Nazarene Parish in Cagayan de Oro City to wipe the feet of the image and send up their prayers: cancer patient Rossel Torres wants to live longer because she has small children, while Vergilio Amiong is praying for world peace.

On Tuesday, the day of the Traslacion, the church will institute a "one entrance, one exit" policy, while the city's law enforcement personnel have put security measures in place.

In Davao City, the replica of the Black Nazarene image will be brought out for a round trip that will take it down MacArthur Highway before it returns to the Black Nazarene Chapel.

In Naga City, the Black Nazarene activities have been taking place despite some rain. On Monday the replica of the image of the Black Nazarene set off from Holy Cross Parish in Barangay Tabuco towards Plaza Quezon, where a Mass and the pahalik were held. Some roads will also be closed in the area as authorities ramp up security and safety measures for the event. On Tuesday, the image will return to the church. — BM, GMA Integrated News
