2 missing in landslide in Caraga, Davao Oriental

Two people were reported missing after a landslide hit Sitio Panlaisan in Barangay Pichon, Caraga, Davao Oriental on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

The provincial government said heavy rains, flooding, and landslides were reported after the state weather bureau raised the red rainfall warning over Davao Oriental.

Some residents in Governor Generoso town have evacuated due to critical water level in Barangays Surop, Osmeña, Tandang Sora, Crispin dela Cruz, Oregon, Poblacion, and Don Chicote.

Evacuation was also initiated at Purok 4, Sitio Liptong, Central in Manay town.

In Mati City, a landslide occurred along Sitio Slide in Barangay Mayo, making the road to and from Tarragona impassable. The road along Rotunda, Dahican was also submerged in floodwaters. —GMA Regional TV
