Motorcycle rider dies after colliding with SUV in Pangasinan

A motorcycle rider died after colliding with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Tayug, Pangasinan, according to a "Saksi" report by Russel Simorio of GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Friday.

Initial police investigation stated that the motorcycle suddenly shifted to a different lane on the road.

“Galing [ang rider] sa inuman, papunta siyang east direction. Kinuha niya ang linya ng SUV kaya sila nagbanggaan. Sa lakas ng impact, tumalsik ‘yung tao,” said Tayug Police investigator Polic Staff Sergeant Francis Nemis.

([The rider] came from a drinking session, and was heading east. [The rider] took the SUV’s lane, which is why they crashed. Due to the strong impact, the rider was thrown from his vehicle.)

The 21-year-old rider was rushed to the hospital, but eventually died.

Meanwhile, the SUV driver and the family of the rider have reached a settlement. The SUV driver will shoulder part of the rider’s burial expenses. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
