Hero dog dies protecting family from cobra in Panabo City

Good boi, Yugo!

A dog in Panabo City in Davao is being considered a hero after he died protecting his family from a venomous cobra.

Yugo, a Belgian Malinois, was found lifeless in his family’s garage inside the subdivision where his owners Bryan and Cindy Sandigan live, last Friday evening.

Beside Yugo was the torn pieces of a Samar Cobra, a highly venomous species of spitting cobra native to the Visayas and Mindanao.

Yugo, who was with his family for seven years, successfully defended his home but succumbed to the poison from the deadly snake.

The Sandigan family said they were saddened by their pet’s sudden passing although this was not the first incident where he saved them from a snake. It would turn out to be the third and final time.

It was learned the location of the subdivision used to be an area thick with grass and vegetation.

Yugo also left behind his partner Ally, who is currently pregnant, which somehow eased his family’s sadness.

Many netizens have expressed their condolences to the Sandigan family, many of whom consider Yugo a hero for his sacrifice. —RF, GMA Integrated News
