Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Marihatag, Surigao del Sur

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the coas of Surigao del Sur on Sunday afternoon, according to the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS).

PHIVOLCS said the 5.3 magnitude quake occurred at 2:22 p.m. east of the municipality of Marihatag at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The last time the area experienced a tremor of such magnitude was recorded last March 1.
