'Nanlaban' theft suspect killed in Batangas

Police shot and killed an alleged thief and home intruder in Batangas' Lemery town as the latter tried to resist arrest, Jhomer Apresto reported Monday on 24 Oras.

Manila Police District police officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on the suspect, who then opened fire on the policemen.

"Upon serving, upon approaching tropa natin, pinaputukan yung mga operatives natin and then nagkaroon ulit ng negotiation,” recounted Police Intelligence Operations Unit chief Police Major Jervies Soriano.

"Ayun pagpasok ulit dun sa kwarto niya, pagbukas ulit, nagpaputok ulit kaya napilitan na talagang gumanti ng putok yung mga operatiba natin."

"Nakiusap pa yung tropa na sumuko siya ng maayos," Soriano added. "In-attack niya pa yung tropa."

The suspect was shot five times in the abdomen, and police rushed him to hospital.

Police recovered a .45 caliber gun and drug paraphernalia from the scene.

According to the police, the suspect was a notorious home intruder who was involved in break-ins in Metro Manila, Rizal, and Batangas.

He was also among Pasig City's most wanted.

Among the suspect's infamous crimes was breaking into a home in Rizal's Cainta town and stealing P300,000 worth of expensive items.

Police added that the suspect had already served time in jail for theft.

"According sa intel report namin, hindi lang siya eh, may mga kasama pa siya sa mga ginagawa niyang pagnanakaw,” said Soriano. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
