Student athlete in Ilocos Norte dies in training accident

A student athlete in Laoag, Ilocos Norte died after a steel soccer goal post fell on him during training, Unang Balita reported on Wednesday.

Police said the accident happened while Grade 11 student Nash dela Cruz was training for long distance track and field for the Region 1 Athletic Association Meet.

Dela Cruz's mother believes somebody should be held accountable for what happened to her son.

The university has reportedly assured the police that it would extend assistance to the victim's family.

GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon was still trying to reach out to the university for its comment regarding the incident. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
