Suspect in kidnap-for-ransom of bank official nabbed after 11 years

The suspect behind a 2013 kidnap-for-ransom case in Cavite was nabbed in Makati after more than 10 years.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras," the 56-year-old suspect had a warrant of arrest for kidnap-for-ransom with homicide.

He and several others reportedly pretended to be government agents when they abducted a bank official.

The victim was found dead with a gunshot wound after the group’s demand of a P20 million ransom was not paid.

“Ito’y isang kaso na tungkol sa isang biktima na nakidnap at naging dahilan ng kanyang pagkasawi.. Hindi naging madali dahil may kakayahan siyang magtago,” NBI Calabarzon Regional Director Eric Mercado said.

(This is a case about a kidnapping which led to the death of the victim. The arrest didn't come easily because he had the means to hide.)

The suspect was cornered by the NBI-Cavite Tracker team inside a mall in Makati and is currently being detained at an NBI Detention Facility at the New Bilibid Prison.

“Hihintayin natin ang utos ng hukuman regarding sa commitment order kung saan siya ikukulong,” Mercado said.

Authorities continue to conduct follow-up operations to catch his other accomplices. —NB, GMA Integrated News
