20,000 attend Sarah Geronimo's free beach concert in Candon

CANDON CITY, Philippines - It was the biggest crowd that Candon has ever gathered. So it would not be a surprise that Sarah Geronimo's free concert here at Darapidap Beach would have a repeat. "Babalik talaga ako sa Candon. Masaya dito," the exhausted singer said after her two-hour concert. (I’ll be back. It’s fun here.) More than 20,000 attended the two-hour concert that also featured Mark Bautista. "There would have been more had it not rain an hour before the concert," said Ilocos Sur Rep. Eric Singson, who sponsored the concert together with Extreme Magic Sing, of which Geronimo is the image model. Traffic was at a standstill at the seven-kilometer stretch from the national highway to the beach area. Many in the audience came from as far as La Union and Ilocos Norte. Dubbed "Sarah Geronimo in Motion," the concert had the same format as her concert in the US, she admitted. "It followed a storyline similar to my life," she said. Her most applauded songs included "To Love You More," "Bituing Walang Ningning," "Pangarap na Bituin" and a medley of jukebox classics with a contemporary funky beat. Wearing a glittery miniskirt, Sarah Geronimo certainly won the hearts of the Candonians. "She looks like an Ilocana," said Cherry Mae Robredo, a young Candonian singer who is also a Ryan Cayabyab voice scholar. Sarahmania swept the city since last week, egged by radio promos and posters in the city. - GMANews.TV
