Father, son in Quezon with lump on their necks seek help from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A father and his son from Sariaya, Quezon are asking for assistance as they both have lumps on their necks and need an operation.

According to “24 Oras,” Friday, the father - Ghil Catapang - performs every Sunday at a restaurant, where he earns P1,000 per gig.

Ghil is the singer and composer of the song "Ang Bayaning Kapuso," which is used for the Sagip Dugtong Buhay bloodletting project.

“Nag-start po ito 2004. Maliit lang po, ga-holen lang. First check-up ko, ‘yun nga, natakot ako sa sinabi na ‘di ka na makakakanta oras na operahan kita,” Ghil said.

He hides the lump on his neck under a scarf.

Meanwhile, his son Christian hides his neck using the collar of his shirt.

“‘Pag nalunok po ako, nararamdaman ko parang may nakabara na po,” he said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation helped Ghil and Christian undergo a medical check up.

“‘Yung kay Ghil, it’s a cyst, multicystic, marami. Mukhang may matigas, pero ultrasound will help us determine kung ano talaga ‘yon. Si Christian, ang nakikita natin is definitely a thyroid gland. It is a thyroid tumor, goiter. ‘Pag sinabing goiter, bukol ‘yon,” Dr. Gil Vicente said. “Definitely, kailangan talaga natin ng operasyon.”

For those who are interested to help, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
