Thunderstorms cause floods in parts of Davao City

Knee-deep floods hit parts of Davao City on Thursday following heavy downpour caused by thunderstorms.

According to GMA Regional TV One Mindanao's Rgil Relator’s report on 24 Oras on Thursday, the floods rendered several roads impassable in Davao City.

A river in Barangay Talomo Proper overflowed , triggering floods in nearby residential areas.

“Pumasok talaga sa iilang bahay ang tubig. At mas grabe sa ating mga kalsada dahil umabot hanggang tuhod ang lebel ng baha,” said emergency responder Yuri Hizola.

(The water entered several houses. The roads had it worse since the floods reached knee-level.)

Meanwhile, some residents of Sto. Niño, South Cotabato were stranded in a public wet market.

State weather bureau PAGASA said cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms may prevail over Eastern Visayas and Caraga due to the low pressure are spotted east of Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Easterlies.—Sundy Locus/RF, GMA Integrated News
