5 hurt as payloader rams 5 vehicles in Abra

Five people were injured after a payloader rammed five vehicles in Bangued, Abra, according to a 24 Oras report on Wednesday.

CCTV footage showed that a tricycle, dump truck, and motorcycle were stopped along a road when they were suddenly plowed by a fast moving payloader coming from the opposite lane.

The passenger of the tricycle was thrown out because of the impact and was later dragged on the pavement.

Meanwhile, the drivers of the tricycle and motorcycle were pinned in the wreckage.

The vehicles were dragged several meters before they crashed into another parked vehicle.

The victims were brought to the hospital for medical treatment. Three of them are still recovering from their injuries.  

The payloader operator is under police custody. According to him, he switched lanes to avoid another vehicle.

Police, however, said the operator was overtaking and is criminally liable for his actions.

The company that owns the payloader said it is willing to help the accident victims. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
