72-year-old woman stabbed to death by 33-year-old partner in Pangasinan

A 72-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her 33-year-old partner in Aguilar, Pangasinan.

According to a State of the Nation report by Jeric Pasiliao, the suspect was briefly escaped but was immediately located and nabbed at his home in Bayambang, Pangasinan.

Police are looking into jealousy and money as possible motives behind the crime.

“Bago ko saksakin, sinabi ko sa kaniya na ‘Hindi ko na masikmura yang pinagsasabi mo sakin’… kasi di niya tanggap na nanliligaw ako sa kabila,” said the suspect.

(Before I stabbed her, I told her ‘I can’t take your words anymore. She couldn’t accept that I was courting someone else.)

“They are living in one roof. So, lasing yung suspect at eto namang victim ay parang kinukuha niya yung naipahiram sa kaniya doon sa suspect, yung P13,000,” Aguilar police chief Police Major Mark Ryan Taminaya said.

(They are living under one roof. The suspect was drunk. The victim was trying to recover the P13,000 she lent him.)

The victim’s family said they would file a complaint for murder against the suspect.

“Nakakalungkot po. Kasi siyempre biglaan po ang nangyari. Hindi namin sukat akalain na ganoon ang kahahantungan sa nanay ko po,” said the victim’s daughter, Melly Soriano.

(It's sad. We didn't expect that would happen to my mother.)

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy repeatedly stabbed another 17-year-old, and attempted to stab another, at an internet shop in General Santos City.

Police said that the crime was caused by the victim’s bullying.

“’Yung suspek, binully raw siya ng victim sa internet café. Bale, sinabihan siya na mabaho. Nagalit ang suspek. Parang nawala sa katinuan, sinaksak agad niya ‘yung nambully sa kaniya,” said General Santos Police Station 3 Deputy Station Commander Police Lieutenant Ferdinand Sahagun.

(The suspect said he was bullied by the victim at the internet café. The suspect said the victim told him he stinks. The suspect got angry and stabbed the victim.)

The victim was rushed to the hospital, while the suspect surrendered himself and his weapon to the authorities.

He is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
