One dead in road rage-related shooting in Rizal

A bicycle rider was shot dead after a road rage incident with an e-trike driver in Rodriguez, Rizal.

According to Raffy Tima’s Monday report on “24 Oras,” a dashcam video showed a man pulling out a gun and shooting the victim, who was carrying a steel pipe.

Despite being shot, the victim still managed to hit the suspect with the pipe.

A few minutes later, the suspect was able to stand then immediately fled the scene.

The owner of the dashcam, who was bringing his kids to school, was caught off guard and told his children to take cover during the incident.

Although the owner of the dashcam was scared, he still uploaded the video in order to help with the investigation.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The victim’s wife and son were devastated with the news.

“Bigyan naman ng hustisya yung asawa ko. Naghahanap buhay lang naman. Hindi naman siguro krimen yung ginawa na, kung nagkasuntukan sila o ano, pero nagdala sila ng tubo, hindi naman masamang pumunta ng barangay dahil yun ang makaka resolba,” said Nympha Mailallos Garcia, the victim’s wife.

(Give justice to my husband. He was just trying to make a living. If they had an argument, they could go to the barangay since it is the proper forum to resolve it.

Road rage incident

CCTV footage showed that Toto Garcia, the victim, got mad when an e-trike cut him off while he was riding his bicycle.

Garcia was hitting the e-trike driver with a piece of wood while the e-trike driver was holding a pipe.

When the e-trike driver was hurt, his family attacked Garcia.

Garcia filed a blotter report in the barangay hall, but the e-trike driver’s family was waiting for him to attack.

Another CCTV footage showed that the e-trike driver’s family attacked Garcia’s son using a slingshot while his mother interfered in the fight.

Garcia’s son said he shielded his mother when the e-trike driver’s family tried to use the slingshot on her.

According to the e-trike driver’s father, his son was hurt by the victim, so they confronted him.

Due to the slingshot attack, Garcia confronted the suspect and he was shot.

The suspect's father said he did not know why his son had a gun.

The suspect’s family is coordinating with the police for the suspect to surrender.
