11,000 marijuana plants worth P2.2 million destroyed in Sarangani
Some 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed in a recent operation in Malungon, Sarangani province.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional office in Soccsksargen (Region 12), the estimated value of the marijuana plants was placed at P2.2 million.
The joint operation was conducted in Barangay B'laan on Thursday, February 6, by personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, the Philippine Coast Guard, and provincial and municipal police units.
The contraband was immediately burned onsite, in the presence of witnesses. Samples were taken to the PDEA Soccsksargen laboratory for analysis.
Meanwhile, Super Radyo dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported Saturday that a drug personality was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Biñan, Laguna.
The subject was found in possession of suspected liquid marijuana oil and dried marijuana leaves worth P54,000. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
