Minor phreatic eruption logged anew in Taal Volcano
A minor phreatic eruption was recorded from Taal Volcano’s main crater on Wednesday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
State seismologists said the minor explosion happened from 8:01 p.m. to 8:04 p.m., which generated a 900-meter plume that drifted northwest.
The minor phreatic eruption was captured by Taal Volcano Observatory’s IP and thermal cameras in Barangay Buco in Talisay, Batangas and the Agoncillo Observation Station in the town of Agoncillo, Batangas.
Alert Level 1 remains hoisted over Taal Volcano, which means it is in an abnormal condition.
Under the alert level, entry into the volcano's permanent danger zone remains prohibited. Aircraft are also barred from flying close to the volcano. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
