4 Chinese nationals arrested for P75-M infringed footwear in Meycauayan, Bulacan
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested four Chinese citizens after finding over P75-million worth of allegedly infringed Crocs footwear in three separate warehouses in Bulacan.
The PNP identified the four Chinese citizens as Weibin, Zhenpan, Youding, and Wang of Elite Globus Prime Holdings Corp., which owns three warehouses in Meycauayan, Bulacan. They were charged for the unauthorized use of a registered trademark or a confusingly similar mark in commerce.
This comes as simultaneous raids on the warehouses found P75.390 million worth of allegedly infringed footwear: P29.690 million in one warehouse, P27.7 million in another, and P18 million in the third. Authorities also found evidence such as business receipts, computer sets, a CCTV DVR, and a web mill printer.
“Rest assured that your CIDG is steadfast in implementing all laws and relentless in catching all violators and criminals, local or foreign nationals,” Police Major General Nicolas Torre III said in a statement.
“We encourage the public to report any violations, illegal activities, or trade malpractices involving infringed and counterfeit products, and your CIDG will do the rest,” he added. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
