Man arrested for robbing at least 10 convenience stores in Laguna
Authorities arrested a man who allegedly robbed at least 10 convenience stores in Laguna.
In John Consulta’s exclusive report on “24 Oras” Thursday, CCTV footage showed the suspect asking help from the cashier. He claimed he was sending money to his friend through an e-wallet.
When the suspect was about to pay, he pulled out a gun and pointed the weapon at the cashier.
After stealing the money, the suspect continued sending money through the e-wallet and fled onboard a motorcycle.
Other CCTV footage showed the suspect robbing grocery and convenience stores in Biñan City and other locations in the province.
Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, Calabarzon Police Regional Office director, said a series of robberies took place at several convenience stores in Sta. Rosa, Biñan and San Pedro in Laguna.
With the help of a police asset, the suspect was arrested in a hotel.
Police recovered a gun and s shirt the suspect wore during one of his robberies.
An emergency app also helped the police with a prompt reaction time.
“Dito po sa city ng Biñan ay meron tayong LGU-initiated na emergency app. Nagkataon na yung hinoldap nila na convenience center ay may nainstall na tayo doon. Nung time na hinoldap siya ay nakapindot siya ng emergency kaya tayo ay nainform na may robbery in progress,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Allan Basiya, Biñan chief of police.
(In Biñan City, we have the local government unit-initiated emergency app and it was installed in one of the convenience stores. We were informed of the robbery when it was pressed by an employee.)
