Suspect in Bocaue cop killings arrested

The Philippine National Police announced Monday the arrest of a suspect in the killing of two police officers during a March 8, 2025 buy-bust operation in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The 38-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay Bunsuran, Pandi, Bulacan, was apprehended with a .38 caliber revolver (no serial number), a hand grenade, a Rusi 125 motorcycle with a sidecar, a genuine P1,000 bill used in the buy-bust operation, and four boodle money bills.
Authorities also found a Honda Beat motorcycle in Barangay Bunsuran II, believed to have been used by suspects to flee the scene of the cop killings.
The PNP Police Regional Office 3 said the suspect had accomplices who remain at large.
On March 8, Police Staff Sergeants Dennis Cudiamat and Gian George Dela Cruz were fatally shot when a buy-bust operation against illegal firearms turned into an armed encounter.
Cudiamat died instantly from a headshot, while Dela Cruz succumbed to critical injuries despite medical efforts. The assailants fled toward Pandi, Bulacan, taking the officers' firearms.
“We assure the families of our fallen heroes that justice will be served. A full investigation is underway, and a hot pursuit operation continues to track down the remaining suspects. We will not rest until they are held accountable,” the PNP said.
Authorities are preparing charges against both the arrested and at-large suspects, including violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591), the Omnibus Election Code, the Illegal Possession of Explosives Act (RA 9516), and double murder. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
