Teachers, their 7-year-old child trapped, killed in Iloilo fire

A family of three was killed after a fire hit a duplex house in Iloilo City.

In Bam Alegre’s Monday report on “Saksi,” the married couple, who were both teachers, and their seven-year-old daughter were trapped in their house during the fire.

The male victim’s brother said they could have gone out through the window if they were not trapped.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection in Iloilo City, the blazed began on the second floor and that electrical issues possibly caused the fire. The house had its electricity since it was built in 1960 and that a light nearby the area was used every night.

The fire left P270,000 worth of damage.

The Iloilo City National High School was grieving the passing of the couple, who have been teaching for 10 years.

“Mararamdaman talaga na greatest loss sa eskuwelahan kasi, silang dalawa, tandem sa visual arts namin na grupo and hindi ko alam kung anon ang mangyayari because we lost them,” said Alpha Jva, Iloilo City National High School principal.
