Venomous blue-ringed octopus spotted in Siquijor
A blue-ringed octopus was spotted in the waters of Siquijor.
According to Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, this kind of octopus is venomous but docile, which means they don't just randomly attack.
But when they feel threatened, they use their neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin. It takes only one milligram of the neurotoxin to paralyze or even kill a person.
"'Yung body niya, medyo parang yellowish, greenish," said Biboy Salcedo, who took the video of the animal during his visit to Isla del Fuego.
He said he maintained a three-foot distance while recording the octopus.
Aside from the blue-ringed octopus, other dangerous sea creatures that must be avoided are striped eel catfish, malo filipina, and the geographic cone snail. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
