Pope Francis appoints Daet priest as new Pagadian bishop


Pope Francis has named Fr. Ronald Anthony Parco Timoner as the new bishop of the Diocese of Pagadian in Zamboanga del Sur.

Timoner will succeed Bishop Ronald Lunas, who passed away on Jan. 2, 2024.

He was born in Daet on August 13, 1971. He studied philosophy at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary of Naga City and theology at the University of Santo Tomas.

The 53-year-old Bishop Elect obtained a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas – Angelicum.

In May 1997, Timoner was ordained priest for the Diocese of Daet.

On the same year, Timoner was appointed parish vicar of Our Lady of Candelaria in Paracale, Camarines Norte. In the following year, he became the parish vicar of Saint Francis of Assisi in Talisay.

He was also the spiritual director of Holy Trinity College Seminary and prefect of discipline and procurator of Holy Trinity College Seminary in Labo, Camarines Norte.

He was later appointed chaplain of the Church of Saint Thomas in Milan, Italy from 2004 to 2008 before becoming chancellor of the Diocese of Daet until 2016.

Timoner has been assigned as the parish priest of San Juan Bautista in Daet, Camarines Norte since 2014 and is also the diocesan administrator since 2014. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
