Kanlaon Volcano spewed ash —PHIVOLCS

Kanlaon Volcano emitted ash before noon Monday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

In a post on its social media account, PHIVOLCS said the volcano has been generating voluminous ash plumes as tall as 800 meters since 11:52 a.m.

It said that ash is being drifted west-northwest of the volcano and residents of La Carlota City, Bago City, and other nearby towns should expect ashfall.

Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS said that Alert Level 3 prevails over the volcano. This means that there is a high level of volcanic unrest. Magmatic intrusion to shallow levels of the edifice is driving unrest, with indications that a hazardous eruption could occur in weeks.—Joahna Lei Casilao/AOL, GMA Integrated News
