Kanlaon causes almost P1M damage to agriculture

The damage to agriculture has reached nearly P1 million following the unrest of Kanlaon Volcano, according to the Office of Provincial Agriculturist.

In a report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, over 2,000 animals are affected as they have nothing to eat and must be evacuated as well.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) warned nearby residents of possible explosive eruption along with a lava flow.

The latest monitoring showed that the volcano spewed 2,000 tons of  ashes for more than four hours.

Hence, ashfall have been experienced in several barangays in the towns of Bago and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental. —-Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
