In graduation toga, 5-year-old visits detained mom to grant her wish
A five-year-old girl went straight to her mother, who was detained in Agusan del Norte, after receiving her moving-up certificate to show her achievement.
In Mark Salazar’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” the girl hurriedly went down the stage after receiving her certificate and traveled for about one hour with her aunt.
This is to grant her mother’s request to see her wearing a graduation toga, which the teacher allowed them to bring.
“Pagbaba namin sa tricycle, hindi naman namin alam nandoon na pala sa bintana. Nakaabang na pala ang mama niya,” the aunt said.
(When we got off the tricycle, we didn't know that her mother was already waiting by the window.)
She added that the girl's mother was crying as she talked about the moving-up ceremony.
The girl's family hoped that she would be reunited with her mother to see her future milestones.
In Cagayan, 57-year-old Armelyn Areola finished senior high school with an outstanding award at Ballesteros National High School.
