Over 5,000 Negros residents receive help from GMA Kapuso Foundation after Kanlaon unrest

Over 5,000 residents from Canlaon City and La Castellana in Negros Island received help from GMA Kapuso Foundation after Kanlaon Volcano's unrest.

According to "24 Oras," Wednesday, among the residents of Canlaon City is Ricky Ensipido, who makes a living through farming.

Ricky's family had to evacuate twice last year, and their losses amounted to P50,000 because of the volcano's activities.

"Napakalaking hirap kasi 'pag pumutok ang bulkan, evacuate kami. Crowded kaya doon. Magkasakit ang mga bata," Ricky's wife, Junile, said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation delivered help to affected residents and students of Barangay Malaiba in Canlaon City and Barangay Mansalanao in La Castellana.

"'Yung number one po na naapektuhan ng Kanlaon po is 'yung mga farmers natin. Since June 3 po meron po tayong naitalang mga bilyon na po na damage ng crops po natin pero patuloy naman din po 'yung mga negosyo dito sa Canlaon. Inaabisuhan lang po sila na mag-ingat," Canlaon City Incident Command System deputy public information officer Seth Cabanes Bariga said.

For those who want to take part in GMA Kapuso Foundation's initiatives, you may send your donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
