P45M worth of unregistered diapers seized in Bulacan
Over P45.4 million worth of unregistered diapers were confiscated in five warehouses in Plaridel, Bulacan, according to the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday.
In a statement, the CIDG said six people, including a Chinese national, were arrested during an operation.
“All of them were caught in flagrante delicto selling and trading unregistered adult and baby diapers that allegedly came from China,” said CIDG chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III.
They were charged for selling, offering for sale, trading, distribution, transfer of unregistered health products under the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 before the National Prosecution Service.
Torre pointed out that it is the policy of the state to protect and promote the right to health of Filipinos as well as help establish and maintain an effective health products regulatory system.
“We have seized an overwhelming quantity of unregistered diapers that may cause health problems to the consuming public especially the elderlies and babies, who are vulnerable,” Torre said.
Torre called on the public to report all violations of the law, illegal activities, and trade malpractices to authorities. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
