Korean shot dead in Angeles City; P200K reward offered for info
A Korean was killed in a shooting incident in the Korean Town area of Angeles City, Pampanga on Sunday, the local government unit (LGU) said.
In a statement on Monday, the Angeles City public information office said the Korean was shot dead near a bank along Friendship Highway at around 1:50 p.m.
"The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital but was later declared dead," the city government said.
According to the LGU, the incident was initially reported as a robbery.
"This is the first recorded case involving the death of a Korean national in a shooting linked to robbery in Angeles City," the LGU said.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. expressed concern over the incident and directed the police to exhaust all means to immediately identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
"We will not allow this brutal act to go unresolved. Angeles City must remain a safe place for both locals and foreigners," Lazatin said.
In a separate statement, the LGU announced that the Korean Association Community of Angeles City is offering a P200,000 reward for any information that will lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator.
The public are encouraged to immediately report any leads to the Angeles City Police Office, according to the LGU. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
