Alleged NPA member killed in Guihulngan City encounter
An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) died in an encounter with government forces in Barangay Humay-humay, Guihulngan City, Province of Negros Oriental.
The body of a male person was recovered in a clearing operation after an encounter morning on May 1, 2025.
According to Police Lt. Jerome de Lara, deputy chief of Guihulngan City Police Station, an M16 rifle and bullets were recovered from the encounter site.
Other items recovered are personal belongings and subversive documents.
A member of the Philippine Army was reported injured in the said encounter.
Affected residents evacuated to safer grounds due to the incident.
As of this writing, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) conducted an assessment on the exact number of residents affected by the encounter.
