2 Chinese arrested for kidnapping 3 foreigners in Batangas
Two Chinese nationals were arrested in Cavite for the kidnapping of three foreigners in Batangas, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday.
According to the PNP, the suspects on May 2 allegedly abducted two Chinese and one Korean national in Barangay Balaytigue in Nasugbu.
The victims were released the next day after negotiations for ransom.
Through surveillance footage and witness accounts, the police obtained a lead in the investigation and launched a follow-up operation.
On May 4, the suspects were arrested at a police checkpoint in Bacoor, Cavite.
Recovered from the suspects were a .45 caliber pistol and a 9mm handgun along with several rounds of ammunition. Some items directly linked to the kidnapping were also seized from them.
The suspects are now facing charges for kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and other related offenses.
Immigration-related charges against the suspects are also being prepared in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration.
“This swift and coordinated response demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protect everyone within our borders—Filipinos and foreign nationals alike,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said.
“Let this be a clear warning to criminal syndicates: the Philippines will never be a haven for transnational crime. We will respond with resolve, and we will hold all offenders accountable,” he added. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
