PNP: 3,698 cops in BARMM on standby as special electoral boards
A total of 3,698 police personnel are on standby to serve as special electoral boards (SEBs) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for the May 2025 midterm elections.
On Monday, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo told reporters that the Police Regional Office (PRO) in BARMM cannot give details yet on the number of cops who are already in official duty as SEBs for Eleksyon 2025 (Election 2025).
These trained police officers could serve in areas where teachers and other poll workers could not reach during the elections.
PNP Public Information Office chief operations Police Major Anthony France Ramos said 182,000 personnel were deployed to secure the polls.
Aside from them, a total of 37,817 personnel from other law enforcement agencies were also deployed.
According to Ramos, the PNP is in control of the situation so far despite the reported delays in the operation of some polling precincts and violence in the regions. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
