Rodrigo Duterte leads in Davao City mayoral race
DAVAO CITY—Former President Rodrigo Duterte is leading by a wide margin in the mayoral race in this city.
With 62.83% of election returns processed (737 out of 1,173), Duterte has garnered 420,722 votes, far ahead of his closest rival, Karlo Alexei Nograles, who has 50,820 votes. Other candidates include Bishop Rod Cubos (4,952 votes), Jonathan Julaine (833 votes), and Joselito Tan (698 votes).
Duterte is detained at the International Criminal Court penitentiary in The Hague.
For the vice mayoral position, Duterte's son Baste Duterte holds the top spot with 413,338 votes. Bernie Al-Ag follows with 49,868 votes, while Oyie Soriano-Barcena and Marcos Alcebar have 3,256 and 1,218 votes, respectively.
The data indicates a significant lead for both Duterte candidates, reflecting strong voter support. Independent candidates in both contests trail by a wide margin. As of this update, 492,760 voters out of a total 1,006,592 have been processed, with the counting still ongoing. Results may change as more election returns are tallied.
