Vilma Santos-Recto proclaimed Batangas governor

Batangas proclaims Vilma Santos-Recto as governor

Vilma Santos-Recto is set to return to the Batangas Provincial Capitol.

Santos-Recto was proclaimed the winner of the gubernatorial race on Tuesday after receiving more than 640,000 votes.

She defeated three other candidates for the position: Mike Rivera (LP), Jay Ilagan (Promdi), and Walter Ozaeta (independent).

According to a report by GMA Integrated News' Darlene Cay, Santos-Recto skipped the proclamation and opted to rest, citing information from her husband, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto.

Also a former city mayor and congresswoman, Santos-Recto served as governor from 2007 to 2016.

In the vice gubernatorial race, Dodo Mandanas won against Santos-Recto's son, Luis Manzano, and Ryanh Dolor.

Santos-Recto's youngest son, Ryan Christian Recto, secured the congressional seat in the sixth district.

Congresswoman Jinky Bitrics Luistro, meanwhile, retained her seat in the second district. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
