Bersamin's brother, niece win governor, vice gov posts in Abra

The brother and the niece of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin were proclaimed governor and vice-governor of Abra, respectively, according to a "24 Oras" report by Jonathan Andal on Tuesday.

Eustaquio "Takit" Bersamin will sit in the province's top post as governor, while Anne Bersamin will be the vice governor.  The Bersamins trounced the mother-and-son tandem of Joy Bernos, who ran for vice governor, and Kiko Bernos, who contested the gubernatorial post.

La Paz town Mayor Joseph "JB" Bernos, who allied with the Bersamins, secured the congressional seat in Abra's lone district.

JB Bernos said that he would push for the development of Abra with the help of Malacañang Palace.

“The brother of the newly proclaimed governor, the executive secretary… Sasamantalahin natin yung presence niya sa palasyo para we can make reality yung mga dreams and aspirations natin to bring different kinds of industries in Abra,” said Bernos.

Meanwhile, the Abra Police declared the 2025 Elections in the province as “generally peaceful” despite a shooting incident at a voting center in Bangued on Monday.
