5 nabbed for firing guns during Eleksyon 2025 in Lanao del Sur
Five men were nabbed for firing guns in the middle of the 2025 midterm elections in Pualas, Lanao del Sur.
According to a 24 Oras report by Chino Gaston on Tuesday, the five suspects were made to drop down to the grass to be inspected by soldiers.
They will face charges for violating the election gun ban.
While three persons were killed due to election-related violence in Lanao del Sur, the military said it was the first time that there was no failure of elections declared in the town in the province.
“First time nangyari sa Lanao na walang failure of elections. Maganda ang ating nagawa dito sa election ng 2025. Sana tuloy-tuloy na ito,” said 103rd Brigade Commanding General Brigadier General Billy dela Rosa.
(It’s the first time in Lanao that no failure of elections was declared. What we did in Election 2025 was good. I hope this continues.)
Meanwhile, military and police personnel had to release warning shots in several voting precincts in Marawi to disperse supporters of a mayoral candidate in the area around 6 p.m. on Monday.
While the group was deterred, they did not disperse.
According to one of their leaders, they wanted to check one of their poll-watchers who was allegedly being harassed inside the voting precincts.
Ballot boxes were transported out of the precinct at 9 p.m., but only arrived at the municipal hall at 11 p.m. –Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
