Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur placed under State of Calamity

The town of Datu Piang in Maguindanao del Sur has been placed under a State of Calamity due to the massive floods brought about by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to the report on "Saksi" Wednesday.

Almost 8,000 families in 16 barangays are affected by the floods, according to Datu Piang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 families are in evacuation centers.

The Bangsamoro government and other organizations have extended assistance to the residents in the area.

The floods have subsided but the rain continues to fall in the area, especially in the afternoon.
